Henderson Community College is pleased to honor HCC alumna and community leader, Kim Humphrey as the 2018 Board Service Award. This award is presented to an individual or organization the Board of Directors honors as having shown outstanding support of the HCC mission and to acknowledge the honoree’s leadership, service and meritorious contributions to the region
Kim Humphrey is the director of employee and community programs at River View Coal – Alliance Coal. In this role, she is a strong partner/supporter with HCC’s Workforce Solutions. River View Coal has utilized the services of Workforce Solutions to train their employees, and help develop new employees for the coal industry. Ms. Humphrey has also supported soft skills development in work with the College and with Union County Schools (UCS), where she assisted with the development of an industry organization to develop additional technical education programs in the county. She supported the College’s receipt of a USDA rural development grant for soft skills training and a Delta Regional Authority grant to help Union County earn Work Ready Community status.
Ms. Humphrey has served on the College Foundation Board for three years, two as president. She was involved in helping to host the first College Foundation gala in 2017. Her leadership has helped the College Foundation develop a mission and strategic plan and strengthened the input and leadership of the Finance Committee. Ms. Humphrey was instrumental in creating the Braves 2 College scholarship program for Union County High School graduates, and continues to support both sides of this program helping Union County High School graduates attend college.
